"OUR MOOSES SMELL LIKE FLOWERS AND PEPERMINTS"

November 5, 2004

Just when I think I'll never EVER join another top web comics list... EVER... TopWebComics returns as the WebComics List.

So even tho I thought I'd never have to say this again... I'd really appreciate any votes you'd be willing to give by clicking on the dealie-ma-bob on the sidebar there.  Thanks!

Oh yeah, new comic!

I forgot to mention the other day that I'm addicted to Magic The Gathering Online again.  I have to give the game credit, I can't think of any other game that I can play like crazy, get sick of it, then go back a few months later and be totally addicted to it again.

So in work news, I've decided to "step down" from my Copy Center Specialist position at Staples, and go back to being a part-time copy center associate.  It's a step I feel good about, as it's one step closer to not being there anymore.  To compensate the loss in pay I'm going to take another crack at freelance work, and hopefully I can put a stronger effort into it this time.

Speaking of which, I haven't talked about my failed career path much in the blog recently, but for the past month I've been sending out portfolios/resumes to places all around my local area with no luck... so now I have to start focusing on graphic design positions outside of New Hampshah.  Now of course I could just apply to places at random, but I thought it would make sense to also mention this on the site and see if anyone had any suggestions for companies that I should look in to.  Networking always tends to be the best way to find a job, so if you know of any companies I should contact, feel free to let me know at staccato@inksandwich.com.  And hey, if anyone gets me a job they're bound to get some free Staccato stuff!  (Assuming I ever figure out where those hats went). >__<

Oh and I tweaked the Fishcam tonight... now if you click on the Fishcam pic it will load a large pic you can check out.  Much better than messing with that live feed crap I was doing before.

Well Bush is President again.  I guess I'm moving to Canada.  I will have to spend the next four years sleeping on either Scott or Pierre's couch. -_-;

Halloween was a lot of fun this year, I scared the crap out of many kids innocently trying to trick or treat at my mom's house.  They had it coming.
Also I carved a neat pumpkin this year, I'll have pictures up once I find the power cord to my digital camera dock.

The Cast/Story page, Gallery page and Links page now exist, and are slowly coming together as legitimate sources of distraction.  Feel free to browse, but be prepared for the worst!

Oh and we have new fish!  Alyssa has taken over the tank the last week or so and we now have two new goldfish... so naturally the Fishcam is back.  I hope our new ammonia monitor can help us prevent any more... "incidents."

Also next week the Staccato posters that were only available at Connecticon 04 will be going on sale online.  I'm not sure if that is exciting or not, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

And now... it's off to Canada!  Oh right, I mean work.

A bunch of things to mention tonight.

Firstly, I threw together a Halloween Staccato wallpaper which is eerily similar to the Halloween header up top.  A strange coincidence, but a free wallpaper is a free wallpaper!

You can download several different sizes here:
1600x12001280x10241024x768800x600

Secondly, we lost our last goldfish, "Rocky"... so for obvious reasons the Fishcam has been taken down indefinitely.  He was with us such a short time I didn't even have a picture of him, but none the less, I believe a memorial haiku is in order.

Name: Rocky Balbulbus
Species: Fantail Goldfish

Was with us not long,
But we loved him all the same.
Golden in spirit.

I think the hardest part about losing our fish was that even now we still don't feel like we know what went wrong.  I really can't figure it out... it could have been overfeeding, ammonia/nitrate levels in the water, something with the new tank.  It just very discouraging not knowing where we went wrong, especially after the long amount of time we went with no serious fish problems in the tiny tank.  Alyssa has even asked the mighty intraweb for answers... but I'm not sure we'll ever really know what the problem was.  Anyway, it'll probably be a while before we try getting fish again... seeing as my confidence level in my fish care abilities is completely shot.  At least now I can stop depressing everyone who comes to this site looking for humor. >__<

Thirdly, Team America: World Police was hilarious.  I meant to say this like, back when I saw it last Sunday, but naturally I forgot until now.

Fourthly, the only new working addition to the site from this weekend is the "Email To A Friend" button, which lets you email the latest Staccato strip to a friend/family member/arch-nemesis/hated rival.  I probably wasted a lot of time working on the CGI scripting to make this work... but it's one of those things once you get started on it you just want it finished and working correctly.  So yeah, be sure to use it... or else all my time was wasted in vain!  VAIN!!!

Fifthly, speaking of wasting time... I started playing MapleStory earlier this week.  Those Koreans sure know how to make a free MMPORPG!  Thanks for tellin' me about it Q!

Sixthly, I think it's important to mention that 6:35 had it's 100th strip recently... and that if Stef made more comics the world would be a better place.  'Cause it would.

Sevently, I'm off!
