Wellity, wellity, wellity.
How's it going?

I've been getting a lot of great feedback from the VGCats guest comic, which is fantastic. I've even been told the strip is currently winning Joystiq's Weekly Webcomic Roundup, which is very cool. Of course I have to wonder if it has more to do with the VGCats name than my actual good comicking. Hopefully if it does win they'll give me a mention, you know... instead of something like "SCOOT RAMSOMAIR DOES IT AGAIN WUT A GENIUS!!1" >_>

Oh I should mention, I'm a little behind on my email. A lot more people wrote in last week than I'm used to, so bear with me, I will respond. The holidays kind of slowed me down too... all that tryptophan in my system.

And I just realized, if you're new to the comic, you probably have no idea when it updates. Right now it basically updates on Tuesdays... which sucks, I really need to get back to three days a week. However I have been doing a few things on the side, like SketchBattles for example. In fact I have a new one up today that you should check out and indescriminately vote for. Sarge is so proud of this one!

Lots of interesting stuff to talk about today!

First, no comic this week... instead I spent my time putting together a VGCats guest comic for Scott while he's over in Scootland. I'll tell ya, this guest comic took FOREVER (forever being about three days), but I'm happy with how it came out. Big difference from the one I did over three years ago. -_-;

Other important news: there is a new Staccato store over at ZeStuff now, although the link hasn't gone up on the front page yet, you can still get in there and pick up some of my geeky shirt designs. Also one new shirt is now available:

Talk about quality, am I right? This is the perfect shirt to impress your gaming buddies.

My inspiration for this parody shirt came from the thousands of Dunkin' Donuts cups I must have looked at while trying to stay alert at my day job. Also, it seems like everyone's parodied the Starbucks logo... doesn't Dunkin's deserve some love?

So yeah, this shirt is now up for grabs at ZeStuff, along with This Is My Axe (a personal favorite of mine) and all the rest. May as well get your Christmas shopping done early. :P

Oh yeah, so I got my Wii set up over the weekend... haven't had much free time to play it, but I am digging the Super Monkey Ball. I also picked up Zelda the other day (the store I preordered the system from was out) but I don't want to sit down with that one until I know I have time to really get into it. Seems like the reviews have been good tho.

Oh and that reminds me, one other important thing, I've decided to start working on a new comic... which also happens to be a gaming comic. My love of console gaming has been rekindled ever since I got my Xbox 360, and all I can think about is video game jokes these days... and although Staccato often features video game humor in the mix, I really don't want it to slowly turn into a gaming comic just because that's what I feel like writing about.

So I'll give some more info on that in the next week or two. I've already got the first few strips written up and it's just a matter of how fast I can throw together a new website and all that. Should be interesting!

OMG an update that actually includes a new comic!

I've mentioned it a hundred times, but I've been doing a lot of the comic work in Flash these days, and I actually feel like it's starting to pay off as far as the strip looks and how it's put together. It's hard to see much of a difference when it's all shrunk down for the site, but the art has a really nice feel when it's at print quality and it's nice to be somewhat happy with what I'm doing for a change. >_>

Another thing I've been doing recently... a couple of my friends started a weekly theme sketch blog thing called Crayon on the Walls, which like SketchBattle, has given me a great opportunity to push myself a bit artistically. I'm not saying I'm pooping out bars of gold or anything, but it's something to do and certainly does not hurt.

Hey can you believe crazy PS3/Wii launch weekend is only a few days away? I know... madness! I already have a Wii preordered at a local store, and I may do some crazy camp out action to pick up another PS3 (which will promptly go right on eBay). Yes I know, I'm a horrible person... but I did it last gen with the PS2, and I am most certainly doing it this gen. Besides, don't blame me... Sony's the one that markets a hot product in ultra-limited quantities.

Besides, why would anyone want a PS3 anyway? It has nothing worth getting for launch titles... unlike the Wii which has a friggin' Zelda game at launch. To me, the choice is incredibly clear. Besides Monkey Ball on the Wii is awesome... I played it at E3, and the remote lets you play the game the way it was meant to be played. Trust me, you'll see.

Other news... hmm... I haven't really had a chance to ask how the new shirts are doing at ZeStuff, hopefully they're moving well. Any day now the next two designs should be going live on the site, and I'm very excited about one... I'm interested to see how it goes over. And hey, the holidays are rushing forward... geeky shirts always make a wonderful gift. >_>

Oh I almost forgot, speaking of me being a commercial whore, I'm trying out something new this year. It's a site that lets you build a Christmas list online, and since Christmas and my birthday sync up pretty well it is of the UTMOST importance that I receive lots of stuff that I want/need. Check it out for your own holiday wish list needs... or if you just want to buy me something. :P

(ZOMG none right now!)
